The Sport of Reading Champions are......

Congratulations to Caitlin Carpenter, Zac Collins, Jacinta Smith and Isabelle Robson team members of Orange Public School (B team) who earned third place in the first ever Kids's Lit Quiz held in Australia at Orange Function Centre on Friday!!!!

The scores were very close making it an exciting time:

1st - Canberra Grammar (they participated via Skype) on 75.5 points, 2nd - New Lambton Public School - 75 points, 3rd - Orange Public School B team on 74 points.

It was lots of fun for the kids, markers and spectators. Quiz Master Wayne Mills said it was the closest competition he had seen. He also said "you can travel the world by reading books. Books are shaped like a door for that very reason - they open worlds for you."

There were ten rounds of questions with categories covering Aliases, Bears, Birds, Book Knowledge, Cars, Dogs, Gods, Harry Potter, Music, Symbols.

Participating Schools included Blayney Public, St Josephs Blayney, Assumption School, Catherine Macauley, Kinross Wolaroi, Canberra Grammar and New Lambton.

Local author Charlotte Calder, illustrator Freya Blackwood and visiting author Lizzie Wilcock also did well as a team. They also signed lots of autographs for the students.

And pictured below are the Orange Public School (A Team). Well done to everyone involved!!!!
