New meaning for Kites

Thank you to everyone who came along to the screening of The Kite Runner at Metro Cinemas on Thursday night. What a tear jerker and what a story. Once again we packed out the Metro Cinema in Orange and we raised $563 for the Australian aid organisation Mahboba's Promise helping women and children in Afghanistan.

If the theme of redemption has really touched you then go to The Kite Runner website http://www.kiterunnermovie.com/, enter the site and click on the Fly your kite to be Good Again feature. Here you can write your own message on a kite to send out into the world and it is also interesting to click on a kite and see what other people have written...

Special Screening of The Kite Runner

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini sold 8 million copies world-wide, spent two years on the New York Times best seller list and has been reprinted several times. It is a powerful tale of friendship, family, devastating mistakes and redeeming love. The film was nominated at the Golden Globe Awards for Best Foreign Film and Best Original Score and won the Truly Moving Picture Award in 2007, designating it as a film that can "move you to laughter, to tears, to make a difference." The movie tickets are now on sale from the Library for $15.50. If you only see one film this year.....
